Let's face it, doing something quickly doesn't always mean something is done right. Do you want a doctor who does very fast circumcisions for your male child, or does them very well without errors?
I get it. Sometimes, being too slow is a problem as well. A slow Uber to the airport when you have a flight to catch can be annoying, while someone driving you there at a breakneck speed without regard for the law is a problem and potentially life-threatening.
Unfortunately, this is what is happening in our country. Eli Musk. Is he in charge of DOGE? Not in charge? Can we get a straight answer? The same could be said, will we ever see Trump's tax returns?
Firing valuable staff quickly and then rehiring them, as has been the case with the federal workforce, is not efficient. Our government is not Silicon Valley and should not be treated as such. There is always room for improvement in any organization. The question remains, how can we do it right and be humane about it?
Firing someone by email without recourse for poor performance when you only have positive reviews is wrong. Whatever happened to giving people several weeks' notice? Employees are encouraged to do so. Why not employers?
I recently heard about a woman who tried to file for social security benefits but could only book an appointment over the phone. I believe the website was down. She tried waiting on the phone for hours and was only able to file a few minutes before the midnight deadline. This is not efficiency. This is cruelty.
You would also think that, with a name like Kennedy, there would be more concern for the welfare of the people and less about dye in the foods. But he is as bad as Musk. Robert, I know you are more interested in addressing chronic diseases instead of infectious ones, but to advocate the use of fish liver oil and vitamin A and not encourage vaccines for measles in our country is heartless and dangerous.
Your science is misguided. Just because a few people who are ill with measles could benefit from vitamins does not mean that treatment is preferable to vaccination in preventing the disease. Also, stop looking for a relationship between autism and vaccines., It has been disproven. Move on. A better use of your time would be to give more funding to research those conditions. However, that will probably not be the case as you fire staff from important health agencies and reduce support for places like the CDC.
I'm glad you haven't yet suggested ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine as possible cures. Please don't unless you have a sick cow with worms. And never say "What have you got to lose?" The answer is your life.
Speaking of speed. How about the issue with immigration? I'll talk about that in my next post.
